Understanding AquaTru Filters: Types, Benefits, and Compatibility

Understanding AquaTru Filters: Types, Benefits, and Compatibility

Water quality is an important consideration for many people around the world. With concerns about contaminants and impurities in tap water, many are turning to water filtration systems to ensure they have clean, great-tasting water at home. AquaTru is a leading brand in the market, known for its effective reverse osmosis systems designed to provide safe and pure drinking water.

This blog will highlight the unique features and advantages of AquaTru's water filters, emphasising their various models and cutting-edge technology.

AquaTru's Unique Filtration System

AquaTru utilises a patented 4-phase filtration technology that ensures high-quality water filtration:

  • Phase 1: the mechanical filter removes large particles such as limescale and rust.
  • Phase 2: the pre-filter eliminates substances like chlorine and chloramine.
  • Phase 3: water is pushed through the reverse osmosis membrane under high pressure, filtering out complex harmful substances like chemicals, medicine residues, and metals.
  • Phase 4: an activated coconut fibre carbon filter gives the water a pure, delicious taste.

The Pre-Carbon filter covers phase 1 and 2. This filter removes bacteria, sediment and other larger particles. The activated carbon also removes the possible chlorine taste and smell. This removes the largest particles from the water, and to prevent bacteria formation.

Lifespan of Filters

The longevity of AquaTru's filters varies based on their function and the specific model:

The Classic Model:

The Carafe Model:

Under Sink

The Under Sink model doesn't have the electronics to keep track of the filter usage intervals and liters used. This is one of the reasons that it is a bit less expensive than the countertop models. We recommend that you write on each filter, with a Sharpie pen, the date you installed it, to keep track of the filter life. You can also use a calendar reminder.

  1. Pre/Carbon Filter after 6 months.
  2. Carbon VOC Filter after one year.
  3. Reverse Osmosis Filter after two years.

Alkaline vs. Regular VOC Filters

AquaTru provides two types of VOC filters, also known as filter 4 or the green filter, each catering to different water preferences.

pH+ Mineral Boost Alkaline VOC Filter:

This filter adds minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and sodium, naturally increasing the water's alkalinity and raising the pH above 7 throughout its lifespan. It creates water with a mineral-rich taste similar to brands like Evian or Arrowhead.

The specific minerals released by the Alkaline filter are:

Potassium

1 mg/l

Magnesium

20 mg/l

Calcium

0.5 mg/l

Sodium

0 mg/l

Bicarbonate

3 mg/l

Note: These are average values. The released amount depends on the age of the filter and the incoming water quality.

Regular VOC Filter:

This filter removes contaminants but does not add minerals, resulting in water with a neutral pH of around 7, similar in taste to Aquafina or SmartWater. Users who prefer mineral-free water can use this filter and optionally add Perfect Minerals.

Compatibility of Filters

When selecting filters, it's important to note the compatibility:

Classic and Under Sink Models use the same filters, which are labelled accordingly. The Carafe Model has its own set of filters, distinct from the Classic and Under Sink models.

Focus on these key features to ensure compatibility:

Opening:

  • Classic and Under Sink Models: the filter opening is located at the bottom.
  • Carafe Model: the filter opening is located at the top.

Size:

The filters are sized to fit the specific models. Smaller filters are for the compact Carafe and larger ones for the Classic and Under Sink models.

Label:

The clear labelling on our filters on the website makes choosing the right product for your needs easy, ensuring you have fresh, great-tasting water at your fingertips.

AquaTru offers reliable and effective solutions for purified drinking water at home. Our different models and filters cater to various preferences. Whether you prefer mineral-rich alkaline water or pure, neutral-tasting water, AquaTru has an option for you.
